My Take: 4/10. A high-effort hike to an excellent RF vantage point with a great view. I personally won't do this one again, but to each hiker their own

This is the only hike under my belt I won't do again! Okay, maybe if a friend is like "we're getting married on Strawberry Peak and photography's not allowed so you better show up if you wanna see it". And they better be a top-shelf friend for me to even consider

Seriously, this was a brutal one. It's got plenty of 'dirt stairs', some scrambling, a false peak, and is completely exposed after the first 1/2 mile or so

It was a beautiful hike and a stunning view, but put us in our places

Even WZ1EEE's dog was tired on the way up, and she's in great shape and it was a cool day. This should have been noted as foreshadowing
Edward beat us to the top and had his mobile shack all setup with the only patch of snow we saw all day in his front yard! I was envious! And he made
I did some Winlink and HF, but mostly 2M handheld
On the way up, still not regretting our decision. From left to right: WZ1EEE, WA6JFK, KO6DVZ, and me (K3MGM)
This wasn't the plan!

Thank you to those who chased! I'm going to try something KI6CR does that I like- listing them:

  • NT6E
  • KE6TH
  • KN6JB
  • WW0MAN ("Wonder Woman")
  • K1PAP
  • KN6HMD
  • W6XYZ
  • KW6ACK ("Ducky". Note that the callsign = quack. Love it)
  • NJ6N
  • KN6OS
  • AD6XJ
  • KI6CR made a last-second chase as we were packing up, which was great

I've been wondering: if this was a 6-pointer, what the hell is an 8-pointer like?! 🫠
